Prof Wen Jiang

Dr Wen Jiang is a Professor of Surgery and Tumour Biology and Head of Metastasis & Angiogenesis Research Group at the University Department of Surgery, Cardiff University School of Medicine. He joined the university in 1989, initially as Research Fellow (1989-1996), then Senior Fellow and Group Leader (1996-1997), Senior Lecturer and Group Leader (1997-2003), Reader (2003-2004). He was appointed to his current position in 2004.

Prof Jiang graduated from the Beijing Medical University in 1987 and worked in the Department of Surgery, First Teaching Hospital of Beijing Medical University before joining Cardiff University.

Dr Jiang’s main research interest is the molecular and cellular mechanisms of cancer invasion and metastasis and the clinical implication thereof. The current research theme includes: tumour induced angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis and intervention, targeting invasion and metastasis inducing molecules, molecular screening and profiling of tumour metastasis related genes, development of new anti-angiogenesis and anti-metastasis agents.
