Dr
Youqiang Ke
is a Professor and the
Director of Molecular
Pathology at the School of
Cancer Studies, Liverpool
University, UK. Dr Ke
obtained his PhD from Leeds
University and joined the
Cancer & Polio Research
Laboratories (headed by
Professor PS Rudland) in
Liverpool University in 1989
to work as a Postdoctoral
Research Associate on a
project titled
“Identification of DNA
regions responsible for
metastasis of breast
cancer”. In 1994, Dr Ke
became a lecturer in the
Department of Pathology,
Faculty of Medicine of the
same university and started
his work on molecular
pathology of prostate
cancer. Dr Ke was promoted
to Senior Lecturer in 2001,
Reader in 2003 and a Full
Professor in 2005.
During the
years, Dr Ke has focused his
research on the
identification of genes
involved in the malignant
progression of prostate
cancer using the
differential display method
as the core technique to
identify candidate genes
expressed differentially
between benign and malignant
model cells. Many of his
research results are
published in leading
journals in the filed
including Cancer Research,
Clin. Cancer Res, Br. J.
Cancer, FEBS Let,
Oncogene etc.
