Call for Abstract and Invitation

The 15th Annual Meeting of Chinese Life Scientists Society in the UK (CLSS-UK) will be held in Christopher Ingold Lecture Theatre, Chemistry Building, UCL (20 Gordon Street, London) in September 12-13, 2009. The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for Chinese life scientists in the UK to exchange ideas, share experience and establish collaborations with each other and also with life scientists in China.

The Scientific Programme Committee has achieved an agenda that will cover the expanding list of topics related to all major areas of basic, translational and clinical bio-sciences. We have invited 11 top scientists from UK and China to give plenary lectures including Professor Ziheng YANG (UCL) who is the first British Chinese awarded the title of FRS (Fellow of Royal Society); Professor Zihe RAO who is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and President of Nankai University; Professor Qingbo XU (King’s College London) who founded one of the biggest vascular biology research centres in Europe and is the Chair of two major research programmes focusing stem cells; Professor Youfei Guan (Beijing University) who is a leading pioneer in field of nuclear receptors and metabolic syndrome; Professor Ping WANG (Queen Mary) who is leading expert in experimental immunology and Professor Tak LEE (King’s College London) who is the director of division of asthma allergy and lung biology. A delegate from China Academy of Science, High-technique Districts and Universities will also be invited to attend this meeting.

In addition, we have also invited all senior fellows/professors of the Academy of Life Sciences for Chinese in the UK (ALSC-UK) to hold a ‘Meet experts’ excise for young investigators and PhD students which provides an opportunity for you to discuss either scientific topics or experience about career development with the experts. We also  offer a number of travel grants and prizes for the best oral and poster presentations.

On behalf of the organising committee, I am pleased to invite you to submit your abstracts before the deadline on 30th of July 2009, and to also attend the 15th annual meeting of CLSS-UK.

Yours sincerely
