The 1st CLSS-UK North Britain Life Science Symposium

First announcement

Saturday, 28 June 2008 University of Edinburgh Edinburgh

CLSS-UK is one of the earliest and biggest professional societies for overseas Chinese in the UK aiming at providing a platform for its members to exchange information, share experience, collaborate with each other and contribute to the life science development in China (www.clss.org.uk). In the last years, most of annual conferences were in South England with few participants from North Britain. With the appointment of new committee members in Scotland and Northern Ireland, CLSS-UK will organize a local meeting for Chinese life scientists in Scotland, Northern Ireland and North England. The objective is to provide an opportunity for young life scientists (postdocs and Ph.D students) to network with each other and learn from senior members. We will have a special session on career development presided over by invited senior members and an introduction session for participants who do not have a chance to present their work. The Symposium is free of charge and we will provide lunch for all participants. Travel bursaries will be available to apply to cover the travel costs. In addition, we will support selected people to attend the 14th Meeting of CLSS-UK in Oxford this September. Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and is famous for its Summer Festival. We look forward to meeting you in Edinburgh in June.
